Nice blog. Bend is a beautiful area.
Yes a beautiful place, but bare land prices are at least 50% off their peak prices. Caution should be used as there is no sign that prices have hit bottom.
Given the economy and the trend toward smaller homes, does anyone know if they have changed their requirement that all homes must be at least 3000 sq ft?
Susan, I have Design Guidelines from March 2008. As of that date they still had a 3000 sq. ft. minimum. The North Rim website still lists a 3000 sq. ft. minimum as well.
Hi Cheri,
Just thought I’d let you know that I sent an email to North Rim and inquired about their 3000 sq ft minimum home size. They emailed me back right away and said their guidelines are being reviewed and that while the 11,000 sq ft max is still in place, they have removed the 3000 sq ft minimum.
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it. FYI, Lot 3 in North Rim will be auctioned off on March 14 with a starting bid of $39,000. I’ve never attended this type of auction but can get you more info if you’d like.

Thank you very much. I’ll be in touch via your blog. Appreciate the quick response.
Thanks. That’s interesting and quite a low price, although I see a small part of the lot is on Mt. Washington Drive. Appreciate the heads up on that, but we’re not quite ready to dive into it yet.
